Flute lesson on Sunday.
We have now decided that I'll do two different movements from the Bach flute sonata in e major for my recital as I can't do any pieces I did last year :/ I also have the burton. Just one more to pick.

Flute lesson

I had a flute lesson on Sunday 13th of November. Due to everything's that's been going on I haven't had much time to work on the burton so we spent the lesson working on my study and sight reading flute duets. Which gave me the idea to compose one. Sue also said she will look me out a technique book for vibrato. I've been trying it but it's very difficult. My diaphragm isn't strong enough yet.

Flute lesson

I had a flute lesson on Friday and we look at more possible pieces for my college recital. Some of them look really difficult but are good pieces so will spend this week going through and choosing some. That's me also had 7 lessons now. Trying to get a lot done before the snow hits due to the ones I missed last year because of hazardous driving conditions.

Crazy

College work has definitely been taking a bit of a back burner lately. My personal life is so crazy right now and, unfortunately for my flute and composition skills, it takes top priority. Despite all the drama I am thrilled that we are back to the normal time table and most of my concerns about maybe struggling to keep up with the course have been put to rest (:

Concert

Been rehearsing for the concert these past weeks. In wind band we are doing a military piece and shrek dance party. And in choir we have jazzy amazing grace we are doing. Unfortunately my car has just given up on me and I can't figure out how to get to college. I'm hoping a very pathetic phonecall in the morning will get someone to come out and fix it for me.

Friday 28th oct

I had a flute lesson today and it went really well. Basically just worked through the two first pages of the burton so it's now more musical. Also I have to start learning vibrato but properly using my diaphragm. Have to learn the next page for next time but she said she was really impressed so I can pay myself on the back (:

Piano piece

Still working in the piano piece for Neil. Have 1 minute 30 seconds do far just need to work on bringing the original key and tune back to finish it off I think. Although its not very experimental with keys just the relative minor but I have got a kind of passing passage using material from the start and expanding on it. Mainly a three note motive of a dotted crotchet a quaver and another crotchet. We'll see how this goes as it could be a complete disaster :)

Although I now have over a minute. I need to do it in stages if I sit down with it for too long I start to go a little crazy lol. But I feel a little less hopeless even if I'm not sure of the direction lol.

Sunday 16th

Today I decided I'd practice my flute while my iPod was updating and as a result practiced for at least two hours. So now my lips are very numb. But I managed to keep going over difficult runs in the Burton piece and instead of jut the one page got through two. I was proud. But then I realised because of all the stuff going on in my house and my mum being ill I didn't realise what day it was and I should have had a flute lesson today. I totally forgot. And I can't even text her cause signal is down in my village. I'll have to email an explain I'm so silly.

I managed to email her an now can't get a lesson till next Sunday. Ah well lots of practice time lol.

I did some work today on my piano piece for composition in context but hit a dead end. It sounds too simple and generic. I'll try again tomorrow after some sleep.
I have a flute lesson possibly on Sunday and I plan to have to first page of Burton's flute sonatia learned and the rest of my study done by then. Lots to do (:

Here's a small introduction to who I am. I am Crystal and I am currently studying classical music at Stevenson College Edinburgh and I'm in my second year of my HND. And I play the flute (:

This blog will hopefully be updated daily and is focused on my work for college. It will be useful to keep a track of how I am progressing and will also help keep me on track. I am hoping this will keep me motivated into focused daily flute practice and composition work as otherwise I'd have nothing to blog and that would be embarrassing. I've also started this blog just before the october break so conviently the only thing I can blog about is my personal work from home. I think this'll do for a first post I'll update later if I can find a way around my laptops incredably annoying lagging problem.
