Easter holidays

Unfortunately during these holidays I've got ulcers on my bottom lip which makes playing flute incredibly painful ): but I have finished my research essays, done some more orchestration and typed up some more notes for comp film tv research project (:

Almost the Easter holidays

This performance block has been much better than the rest. I think I've had more to do and I took it upon myself to get help with composition for once :p
I'm enjoying rock choir too. I like how we learn most of it by ear and the main idea is to get you to enjoy music and really just go out there and give it all even if your not 100% on all of the notes. We also might be doing that song at Annette's daughters wedding which would be a lot of fun.
I have also tried setting up another blog on tumblr where I can upload videos and compositions I have done but for some reason I'm having trouble getting it to register. I tried to update my website from last year but my laptops not playing fair right now so I'll give it another chance.
At my flute lesson on Saturday Sue had said she was please with my progress on the Rutter piece and that for next week I need to get it to run more smoothly and evenly.
I finished my 2nd research essay for lauries class which leaves me with only one more to do which I plan to start today.
My Sibelius isn't working do I downloaded MuseScore so I can work on orchestrations at home during the holidays. I've started the Spanish romance piece which I think will be the hardest as all you are given is the one line of music. I've decided to use a s sitar which should count as my world instrument.
For comp film tv I have begun my research project. I watched the film and took notes and picked two of my cues. I tried notating the main theme which went okay only I can't seem to get it in the right key.
All in all I think that this has been the most productive performance block yet and I just feel much more motivated and confident about this year. Maybe it's the vitamin D effect from the sun (:

Next year

Ive had a lot of talks with Hilary and sue about what I'm going to do next year and it's been decided that I will not be offered a place on the degree for this year but reapply for the year following. Hilary said that my performance hasn't progressed as well as she had hoped even though everything else is okay. And as performance is a quarter of my grade in the degree I didn't want to be struggling. I am fully aware of this being my own fault and have already spoken to sue about continuing to get flute lessons after this year privately and still getting my grade 8 and continuing to improve.
As it was, I was already considering a gap year as we didn't get travel expenses this year and other personal problems have meant that this year has been financially very difficult for my family.

Performance block before easter

I feel that this performance block is better and I have much more to do. I've also been spending time in the computer room working on compositions. I have one finished for composition in context that's a fusion between beatboxing and plainchant which actually works. The only problem I seen to be having is with my composition film and tv class. I am completely out of ideas and don't have enough to show for it. Luckily I have started my research project and chosen 2 of my 3 ques which I plan to explore more this week.
The windband music this block in my personal opinion is too hard. My performance this year has struggled due to personal problems and self motivation so right now I really want to concentrate on my final pieces rather than my band music.
My flute lessons are going well and sue has said that she is happy with my progress. For Friday I need to bash onto my rutter piece as we will be concentrating on that.

Flute program

Thankfully my program is long enough. Hilary wanted to check it because she was worried I couldn't do two movements of the Bach. But luckily its all suitable in length and difficulty. Now to learn it all lol.
My program now consists of flute sonata in e major movements 3 and 4 by Bach, sonatia for flute and piano by eldin burton movement 1, and movebt 4 (watlz) of suite antique by John rutter.
Next flute lesson is next Friday. Doing well keeping up with them.

This Friday

This Friday there will be a visiting Argentinian band coming to perform a lunch time concert an we have the opportunity to play with them do I got the music for that today. There is a small rehearsal on Thursday but I think this is a good opportunity and should also be a lot of fun. We are meant to be playing pirates of the caribbean I am rather excited about that.

Unfortunately we've been told we are not up to standard in our project group. Personally I find that really annoy as I was one of few who turned up to most meetings (occasionally weather meant I couldn't make it but I always let someone know) and I've also been using zoho. Not in my favour is that I have quite a small role in the project and haven't really had that much to do. I'm not too worried now though as Annette has stepped in and it might be the push we need to get this off the ground.
